NFL Week 1
62 Days Until Election Day
Tomorrow night, the National Football League kicks off again. These are optimistic times for fans of the Chicago Bears. While such a thing is not always an important indication, they sure looked good during the preseason. They also looked good on HBO's "Hard Knocks." This was the first time they were featured on that annual training camp program and the first time I watched a full season. While not perhaps riveting television, it was fun to watch. The Bears actually looked like a competent organization filled with likable people. It was interesting that the ownership group was not even referenced, besides one brief photo of matriarch Virginia McCaskey.
I understand the team had the final editing say over all the episodes. There was no profanity whatsoever on any of the shows, which I think may have been a first. In any event, they sure knew how to spin a positive image for the front-office, coaching staff, and players. People who do political ads should be so talented.
The Bears are not going to win the Super Bowl this year, but they are expected to be much improved, with number one pick Caleb Williams leading the team at Quarterback. He sure has a lot riding on his shoulders. If the team can make the playoffs this season, it will be an exciting accomplishment and a sign that before too long, we can really be talking about a championship.
As always, these are a list of games and the team highlighted will be who I want to win, and not predictions. As it relates to any team in the NFC, each week I simply look at what would be the optimal situation if the Bears can somehow get the number one overall seed, and go from there.
I will root against Aaron Rodgers in all games except those against the NFC, unless he gets hurt and is out for the year again. Then, I may pick the Jets sometimes.
As always I am starting off at 0-0 (100%)
1. Ravens (0-0) at Chiefs (0-0)
2. Packers (0-0) vs Eagles (0-0) in Sao Paulo, Brazil
3. Steelers (0-0) at Falcons (0-0)
4. Cardinals (0-0) at Bills (0-0)
5. Titans (0-0) at Bears (0-0)
6. Patriots (0-0) at Bengals (0-0)
