2010 U.S. House Special Elections

This coming Tuesday, a district in Florida will be the site of the first of four special elections for U.S. House seats. There is actually a fifth Congressional vacancy in NY, left vacant by strange freshman Democrat Eric Massa, but the state's scandal plagued Democrat Governor has said he will not call for a special election in that district.

Below are simple predictions for the special elections. These are not predictions for the regular November elections in those districts. Those will come in October. I haven't missed any vacancies have I?

19. (vacant upon the resignation of Robert Wexler-D)
Won by Obama in 2008 with 65% of the vote

Likely Democrat

9. (vacant upon the resignation of Nathan Deal- R)
Won by McCain in 2008 with 75% of the vote

Safe Republican

1. (vacant upon the resignation of Neil Abercrombie- D)

Tossup (D)

12. (vacant upon the death of John Murtha- D)
