The game was not even really as close as the final score counts. Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker might as well have stayed in the kitchen. He was not needed in this game. By the fourth quarter, it would have taken an Executive Order to save the defending champions.

 

The Philadelphia Eagles roundly beat the Kansas City Chiefs, denying them the chance to become the first ever team to win three consecutive Super Bowls. I had nominally wanted the Chiefs to win this game, but was completely fine with them losing. I just wish the game itself had been more exciting.

Perhaps the Chiefs just ran out of gas after so many close games the last few years. Perhaps, there was a New Orleans voodoo curse. Maybe Patrick Mahomes was off his game because Donald Trump had hit on his wife. Maybe though, the Eagles were just very good.

Congrats to them and their unlikable fan base. Hopefully very, very soon, the Chicago Bears will honor their recently departed owner Virginia Halas McCaskey by getting to lift the George Halas Trophy and then the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
