NFL Week 1

Football season is back. As is Brett Favre, but not John Madden....

I hear that a Philadelphia reporter recently asked new Eagles QB Michael Vick if he supported Arlen Specter, Joe Sestak, or Pat Toomey in the Pennsylvania U.S. Senate race and he said that he did not have a dog in that fight....

So, I need to point out that there are not predictions. They are who I want to win the games. I like to keep track of that and how things go. Maybe next year, I will do a two tiered system where I also make predictions, but I don't feel like taking that on this season. My main objective in all these picks (the ones that involve NFC teams at least) will be to benefit the Jay Cutler-led Chicago Bears.

1. Titans (0-0) at Steelers (0-0)
2. Dolphins (0-0) at Falcons (0-0)
3. Jets (0-0) at Texans (0-0)
4. Lions (0-0) at Saints (0-0)
5. Broncos (0-0) at Bengals (0-0)
6. Chiefs (0-0) at Ravens (0-0)
7. Cowboys (0-0) at Buccaneers (0-0)
8. Vikings (0-0) at Browns (0-0)
9. Eagles (0-0) at Panthers (0-0)
10. Jaguars (0-0) at Colts (0-0)
11. Rams (0-0) at Seahawks (0-0)
12. Redskins (0-0) at Giants (0-0)
13. 49'ers (0-0) at Cardinals (0-0)
14. Bears (0-0) at Packers (0-0)
15. Bills (0-0) at Patriots (0-0)
16. Chargers (0-0) at Raiders (0-0)

Record thus far: 0-0 (0%)--aka technically perfect

Corey, my 2009 NFL predictions:

1. Pittsburgh Steelers will win their 7th Super Bowl championship in franchise history, defeating Philly in the once and for all All-Pennsylvania Super Bowl that we've been waiting for.

2. New Orleans will go 11-5 or 12-4 and win the NFC South since Tampa Bay is likely going to implode under Raheem Morris.

3. Marvin Lewis will get the Cincy Bengals at 8-8 or 9-7 and get FIRED after 7 seasons.

4. Wade Phillips' future in Dallas is going to depend on IF he can get the Cowboys to the SB this year, if they fail to make the playoffs again, he's gone.

5. Here in Houston, Gary Kubiak will be pressured to get the Texans into the playoffs, or else, he's gone too.

Corey, do you keep up with college football? I'm more of a fan of NCAA than I am the NFL. Just wondering.

I don't really keep up with college football too much, but I know a little bit about what goes on during the season and try to watch the Bowl games.

Congrats to NIU on the big win last week!

Corey and Aaron, I'm already calling the 2009 BCS National Championship showdown:

Florida vs. Texas-with the Gators putting the Horns in their place, 63-17 once Tebow and Co., go wild on them for everyone to see the SEC IS the power-conference in college football history and of all-time.
