So who are you voting for for Illinois Governor, Corey? Do you like Jesse Sullivan or Gary Rabine?
Interesting question. Not sure you are someone from Illinois or not, but here is some background on this:
At this point it is clear that Darren Bailey will win today's primary fairly easily. Sullivan is likely to finish second. Pritzker will easily beat Bailey in the general, which is why he spent so much money trying to nominate a candidate as un-electable as Bailey.
When Richard Irvin first got into the race, I was quite happy. I thought he was the only one of the potential candidates who could possibly win in November and in a crowded field of pro-Trump candidates, he could split the difference and finish in front with the millions that were going to be spent on him by his billionaire benefactor Ken Griffith.
The Irvin campaign turned into a complete disaster though and Griffith is not even sticking around to see the loss tonight. He has announced his move to Florida.
Irvin, whom almost certainly did not vote for Trump, instead launched a strategy trying to accuse Bailey and Sullivan of having been "Never Trumpers" while refusing to say whether he voted for Trump or not. So, that and some other issues, completely turned me off from the Irvin campaign. At one point, I thought I might volunteer for it, but I was just completely offended by the dishonesty involved there as an anti-Trump Republican.
I considered voting for Paul Schimpf, who will finish back in the pack, but ran the least dishonest campaign, but there seems to be no reason for that at this point.
So, today, I voted in the Republican Primary and wrote in Adam Kinzinger for Governor.
I am sure I will be doing the same in November.
Yes I am from Illinois. I live in Downstate Morton, but have family living in Morton Grove. Very sad for Highland park. Trump has set off a litany of BS. I am also a Never Trumper that do not trust Trump either.
I hope you don't mind me reading your page. I follow Republican politics but have been upset at the party as well for giving us Trump. I voted for Ted Cruz in the primary in 2016.
I actually supported Jesse Sullivan, but alas i agree with you. Pritzker will win reelection over Bailey. Kinzinger would hopefully keep himself for the future.
