Presidential Power Rankings # 6

Democrats:

No changes this week. A quick word of explanation to say that I would be prepared to move Wes Clark up a place or two if he actually were to signal some kind of move of an impending candidacy. Instead, I think he will be like Pataki and Gingrich for the Republicans, in wanting his name to be included in the list of potential candidates, but deciding to not actually go for it. Plus, he is heavily involved with the Clintons.

No changes at all. I will use this opportunity to say that as far as national hype is concerned for Republicans and the whole national poll thing, Giuliani has probably vaulted into the top spot. However, I am doing these ratings based on who is most likely at this point to actually capture the nomination, and McCain is still way ahead of Giuliani when it comes to organization and infrastructure in the key states, Romney is not far behind either. I still actually expect Romney to be the GOP nominee when all is said and done, but at this point, he still has some work to do as far as matching McCain in name recognition, etc.

And on another note, if Jim Gilmore manages to stay completely out of the news for another week, I may need to re-evaluate his ranking.
